초 록

책과 문서의 보존은 매우 중요하고 시급한 문제이다. 여기에서는 책과 문서를 만드는 종이의 열화 원인, 열화를 억제하거나 방지하는 화학적 방법, 그리고 고분자를 이용한 물리적 보강 방법, 열화가 산성 종이에 비해 매우 느린 알카리성 종이 제법, 그리고 최근 책과 문서에 사용되는 종이에 대한 규정 등에 관해서 개관하고 토의하였다.

ABSTRACT

It is important and urgent matters to conserve books and documents. Causes to the deterioration of papers, chemical methods to prevent or retard the deterioration of papers. physical methods to preserve the deteriorated papers, preparation of alkaline papers of which hydrolysis is very slow compared with acid ones, and recent requirements for papers used in books and documents are reviewed and discussed.
